| Article: Alion wins Task Order to Deploy Army Standards and Automate Physical Security Information Collection and Processing |
February 08, 2010 |
|
Alion deployed the Army's Security Management System (CounterMeasures®) (SMS(CM)). SMS(CM) is powered by Alion’s CounterMeasures® technology and assists members of the Army physical security community standardize and automate the process by which they collect and analyze physical security information. The $938,000 task order, awarded under the Modeling and Simulation Information Analysis Center (MSIAC) contract, includes system deployment and enhancements to the SMS(CM) tool.
Full Article
The Army is employing SMS(CM) to conduct physical security assessments of its resources. The implementation of the software provides the Army with a standardized process for information collection, storage and dissemination.
SMS(CM) enables Army physical security inspectors to conduct physical security inspections and risk analysis on laptop, desktop and tablet computers. Inspections are imported into the analysis module where inspectors examine the risks site-to-site by comparing assets, vulnerabilities, threats and mitigation options. Additionally, reports are automatically generated, and data generated from inspections is uploaded to a centralized location, giving Army officials visibility into the Department’s risks and physical security posture.
“By providing the Army with an enterprise visualization tool such as CounterMeasures®, Alion is enabling Army leaders to evaluate and develop risk mitigation strategies in a timely manner and to set priorities based on the risk assessment,” said Rear Adm. Richard E. Brooks (USN, Ret.), Alion Senior Vice President and Manager of the Distributed Simulation Group. “The Army now has a framework to track security improvements and justify funding requirements.”
CounterMeasures is Alion’s solution for risk and vulnerability assessment. It streamlines the process of collecting, analyzing and managing physical and electronic security data, giving users the ability to respond quickly and intelligently.
The period of performance runs until February 19, 2012. Alion’s partners are HB5 Solutions and BLBidwell, LLC.
MSIAC, which is operated by Alion, is a U.S. Department of Defense Information Analysis Center that supports the modeling and simulation (M&S) community and provides broad support for M&S programs throughout the government. | Article: Alion awarded task to deliver CounterMeasures® to Help DoD Secure, Standardize and Automate Critical Information Protection |
December 01, 2009 |
|
McLean, VA – December 1, 2009 – Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions company, was awarded a $2.8 million task order to enhance and support an Alion-developed secure, automated system that Department of Defense Operations Security (OPSEC) personnel use to collect, analyze and collaborate on critical information, vulnerabilities, and threat.
Awarded as a task order to the Navy Information Operations Command under the Modeling and Simulation Information Analysis Center (MSIAC) contract vehicle, Alion will address a common challenge facing OPSEC decision-makers across all services and Defense agencies. The challenge is to standardize OPSEC assessments and analysis in order to provide U.S. military forces with accurate data on their vulnerability posture in order to decrease their operational risk associated with information disclosure.
Full Article
To meet the challenge and improve situational awareness, Alion developed the Operations Security Collaboration ARchitecture (OSCAR). OSCAR is a secure, automated and standardized risk and vulnerability management program that aids OPSEC officers, assessors and analysts in the selection of appropriate countermeasures to meet leadership’s risk-level expectations.
“We believe that through the development and deployment of OSCAR, Alion has helped the OPSEC community take a major step forward. OSCAR enables OPSEC managers to identify critical information, analyze threats, assess vulnerabilities, analyze risks and apply countermeasures,” said RADM Dick Brooks, USN (Ret), Alion Senior Vice President and Manager of the Distributed Simulation Group. “We are supporting the DoD by providing a framework to track security implementation based on risk reduction.”
OPSEC is a DoD process that denies our adversaries access to our critical information. It determines whether critical or sensitive military information could be accessed and compiled into useful intelligence to benefit adversaries. Based on analysis of OPSEC data, countermeasures can be implemented to eliminate or reduce the risk associated with exploited information.
